PERSERVERANCE
We will try to:
Stick to something.....stay committed.
Keep our promises.
Make sure people can depend on us to finish what we start.
Stay friends even when a friendship is tested.
NEW ENTRANT:
Welcome to Emily Shelver who started in Room 5 just before the Queens’ Birthday weekend. I’m sure you will all join me in making Emily and her family most welcome to our school and community.
SPECIAL CHARACTER:
We had a lovely celebration on Sunday at our School/Parish mass. One of our future students, Siaosi Uhila, was baptised. 27% of our children were in attendance at the mass. The staff all attended very worthwhile professional development last Friday at the Plymouth Hotel with Catholic School staff from around Taranaki.
Our speakers, Ron and Kath Cronin-Lampe, spoke to us about Restorative Practices for schools. This has given us much to reflect on and discuss as a staff.
PARENT INTERVIEWS:
Thank you for attending our Parent Interviews last week. We hope you found our new Interview Reports informative.
These have been introduced in line with National Standard reporting recommendations.
ICAS EXAMS:
Our ICAS exams have begun with eight students, Yr 4-6, sitting Science. English, Maths, Spelling and Written
Language exams are being held this term and early next term.
INTERSCHOOL:
Interschool was held on Thursday at Coastal School in Okato. We played netball, soccer and rugby, unforunately losing all games but played in great spirit.
Thank you to parents who helped with transport and came along to
support our teams.

It is being held at St Joseph’s Church Hall from 7-8pm on Wednesday 16th June so do come along it will be great for the children and parents to catch up with everyone again. Can you please bring along a gold coin donation towards flowers for Trish Gibson who was the children’s teacher in the programme.

We have Wendy Bayly, the numeracy advisor, working in our school again this Wednesday 16th June. She will also be running a staff meeting with staff after school.
NATIONAL STANDARDS:
Staff will be involved in National Standards training over the next couple of weeks. Pat Swanson and myself will be at a course today and Anne Dent and myself will be at another course on Thursday 17th June. It’s really important we attend this training so we are up to date with developments in this area.
CHOIR:
All Year 5 & 6 children are currently involved in practicing for the bi-annual New Plymouth Primary School’s Music Festival which is being held later next term. They have their first cluster practice this coming Thursday afternoon at Highlands School. Jade Harrison is leading our choir and Clare Howarth will be going with them also. If we could have a couple of parents to accompany them, as they will be walking, that would be
great. Just let Jade or Clare know if you can help. Also, in case of rain, can you let Jade or Clare know if you could help with transport if required on the day.
JUMP JAM:
Jump Jam is in full swing again and the children .and teachers are loving it. The whole school meets out the front at 9.50 each morning and is ably led by our Jump Jam leaders. We have a new Jump Jam CD so are learning new ones as well as exercising to our old favourites.
UKULELES:
We have this week purchased 15 ukuleles for the school. One of our very kind parishioners gave us a generous donation and we have used this to put towards the purchase of these instruments. Children will be learning the ukulele beginning next term. It will be a nice change form the recorder!!!
